SERDANG, May 5 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry has set a waiting period of not more than three months for dental and orthodontic treatments at government clinics, said its minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Prior to this there was no fixed time limit and people seeking treatment for dentures, braces and minor surgery were just added to a waiting list indefinitely.

"Earlier there was no time period given and people were just put on the wait list. They were only called when their turn came, sometimes after a year or more," he said during a press conference after visiting the Seri Kembangan Community Polyclinic here.

The ministry would also increase the number of dental professionals nationwide to meet the three month target, he added.

Liow then announced that three new 1Malaysia Health Clinics would be set up in Lestari Perdana, Sri Serdang and Balakong.
